Research Interests

The actin cytoskeleton is a fantastic dynamic architectural feature of all eukaryotic cells, required for the function of numerous cellular process, including growth, development, and response to stress. Recent studies have shown that the actin cytoskeleton is required for a variety of cellular processes associated with immune activation and signaling; however, the function and mechanisms underpinning these processes largely unknown. My research focuses on understanding how the actin cytoskeleton impacts defense signaling in the plant immune system. Using a combination of molecular techniques, genetics and cell biology, I am investigating the signaling mechanisms of actin and ADFs in activating or inhibiting host defense responses following pathogen perception.
